JG Percussion Michael Oberaigner MO7 “Schwammschlägel” Timpani Mallets - small

Re-created from 1849, these “Sponge-headed” mallets were originally designed by Felix Mendelssohn’s timpanist, Ernst Pfunt. A small composite core, covered with a layer of sponge then wrapped with liner felt. A truly unique sound.
“The sound is very direct – it can be soft enough to blend in, and warm enough for rolls – you can also be very articulated, and go over the whole orchestra if you need. I like these for Mendelssohn Italian Symphony.” – Michael Oberaigner
